HD-DVD Drops Below $300

The war is just heating up. The latest shot fired in the next generation video player war is that Toshiba has lowered the price of the HD-A2 HD-DVD player to $299 to combat Sony’s price of $499 of its BDP-S300 which includes five free movies.

Although combating technologies help lower prices for consumers, It’s getting frustrated waiting to see what format will win.

HD-DVD is better for consumers, as it’s not as laden with DRM crap as Sony’s Blu-ray. That means that you will probably see more support on computers for HD-DVD, as people will be able to write utilities to use the things more easily.

I vote for Blu-Ray. The 50Gb of space is too much to pass on.
