Coolest iPhone App To Date: Remote Buddy
Remote Buddy has long been the standard to add third party remote support to your Mac, but the latest version sports iPhone support. The updated application runs a small AJAX fortified web server that lets you transform your iPhone into a feature packed remote for your Mac (Think of it as a much cooler, and far more functional Sonos remote).
Remote Buddy for iPhone lets you browse all the music in your iTunes library that resides on your Mac. You can browse by artist, album, playlists and tracks. After you scroll through the elegant interface, you can see what song is playing via an interactive “now playing” section that besides letting you pause a song and advance tracks, lets you change the rating of a song and see the cover art smoothly fade over as new songs start to play.
If the iTunes integration wasn’t enough Remote Buddy also has a live updating mini version of your desktop (Think faux VNC) that lets you take remote control of your Mac. The feature list goes on as illustrated by the silent video above.
Configuration is easy. Just install the application, wander into the its preferences to enable the HTTPD server and access the Mac’s internal IP address (over WiFi) into your iPhone.
A free 30 day trial is available to download and is available for purchase for 19.99 € (Approx 28.00 USD) and well worth the price in my opinion.
