Who else is excited about the new Leopard interface?

Oh, I love waiting for apple to surprise me, I wanted so much for a new dock, and look at it it’s so shiny and bouncy.
The stacks things reminds me of an experimental desktop thing I once saw on YouTube.

Stacks is awesome. This will be great for project work.

I’m really looking forward to the new Finder, Quicklook, and Spaces. I agree about the menu bar… the transparency looks cheap and I hope they reconsider.

The biggest thing I’ve been waiting for in Leopard was a new version of Safari so I could finally re-order and “tear off” tabs. Needless to say, I’m thrilled I didn’t need to wait until October to get that.

The interface isn’t revolutionary or anything, it’s just a nice refresh… but maybe a little to much… it’s starting to look like a wet fun house with all those reflections. But everything seems to work with you, instead of loading a program you have Quicklook instead of opening finder you have Stacks. Transparency used to be used for aesthetics and usefulness here it’s mostly aesthetics…. but for sure its a step foreward.. I like.

Transparency used to be used for aesthetics and usefulness here it’s mostly aesthetics. There is no need for the menu bar to be transparent but its there anyway. IMHO though its still better than Vista’s (yeah even though they look a lot alike now). For Vista every-time you open a new window you have to wait for that sliding effect (yeah its a split second but a lot of the times you want to get rid of those dialog boxes ASAP), you use 3D flip you have to wait till all the windows are organized then flipped. Where as in Exposé a flick of the mouse does the job. Leopard, seems to still have more usefulness in the UI than superfluous effects. Also one last comment, I think one of the best things about Leopard is that it works with you, everyone is trying to do things faster now a days. Leopard helps with that, instead of launching an app there’s Quicklook, instead of searching through tons of windows (even in Exposé) there is Spaces, instead of looking for folders there are stacks.

PS. when writing this long comment I just wondered WHERE IS BUILT IN GRAMMER CHECK??

Well, I think the 3D dock it’s too much, despite the fact that it looks great actually. But seriously, it takes more screen real state and that sure will be a problem to me.

In the other hand, we have the oh-so-great stacks. I was speechless with that one. Really cool indeed.

I actually don’t really like the plastic that much. It just seems…dull. Maybe ‘caz i used Max Rudberg’s Smooth Stripes theme all these years.

I’m quite looking forward to the new interface- especially being unified. Qiuicklook seems really promising, I can’t wait to try it out. Stacks looks pretty nice too. The only thing I’m not too happy about is the surely “aero-like” menubar, well, I guess we’ll all have to get used to it (unless we use a theme or something).

To be honest I am not really excited about Leopard I don’t see any major leaps in changes sure all the new stuff looks cool but it’s not ground breaking.

You most likely would be able to change the Dock and the top Finder bar back to the “classic” look.

Leopard will be worth the wait.

nice update (stack promises a lot), but could it be something more revolutionary and easier to do than integrate quicksilver on the system? wake up apple.

I’m excited! Stack is what I like the most, then QuickLook. The new graphic is clean and coherent and shiny…

I’ve read a lot bad opinions, but I say we should try before saying anything. I still trust Apple’s designers!

I don’t get it.

I think what is most important about Leopard is CoreAnimation. Apple has added a few applications and features that show the abilities of CoreAnimation, but once developers of Apps and Utilities get their hands on it, we’re going to be seeing a whole new Mac OS X experience. It won’t be terribly unified, unless someone comes up with some Human Animation Guidelines (can we call it HAG?) or maybe there is something already sketched out, but I think developers really have some great opportunities to make applications so much easier to use, not just “flashy”.

Yes, CoreAnimation will be used to add shiny in many inappropriate places, but good interface designers (and I’d like to think we have more of those in the Mac development community, or hope we do) are going to use this in actually revolutionary ways.

Things like Spaces and Stacks and Time Machine are just examples of how CoreAnimation is going to change the Mac OS X experience in Leopard. The behind-the-scenes features are what truly excite me.

Plus, the Finder is (finally) Cocoa now.

I’ve always admired the times where Apple has left places for third-party developers to fill in features. There are more useful tools for developers to create those features that will make Mac OS X a vital and even more useful experience.

People who are unimpressed by what seemed to be a lackluster Keynote are missing, what I believe, to be some of the more important aspects of Leopard. It showed off features that developers will be using to make the Mac more useful and more fun.

I cannot wait.
