Recommended iGoogle widget: Local Gas Price

Ok I admit it, I use Google’s personalized web page – aptly titled iGoogle – as my homepage. No shame. Despite the fact that Google received the lowest rating for personal privacy, I’ll continue to gladly use the page. It may not be the prettiest widget enabled start page on the net, but it sure is the simplest.

I don’t run too many widgets. Just the bare necessities which include the Calendar, Gmail, Google Maps, and a few other valuables. There is one widget that time and time again proves itself as being one of the more informational / useful widgets though. That widget is Local Gas Price.

There is no denying that Gas Prices are sky high right now. What were the gas prices when President Bush stepped into the Oval Office? Something under $2.00 for sure [I believe]. Anyhow, the Local Gas Price widget is fantastic because it updates daily – reporting the lowest gas prices in your vicinity. Take Seattle for instance. I passed a few stations on the way home which advertised gas at $3.21. Fortunately, Local Gas Price does even better showing the name & address of a station offering gas at $3.15. Winner!
