BREAKING: Verizon Experiments with DNS Redirection to Generate Revenue Off Of Misspelled URLs

Verizon, obviously not learning from SiteFinder, has begun impementing DNS Redirection starting in the Midwest.

This means you will be redirected to a Verizon controlled page when you mistype a URL that will most likely work with a partnered search engine. This clear money grab has been proven to be annoying, confusing and misleading to consumers and further illustrates the need for third party DNS products or VPN solutions.

    This is important…. Screwing with DNS is breaking the trust of the ISP to the individual.

    BREAKING to me tends to mean really really important. Like it would most likely affect a large group of people in a dire manner.

    Terrorists blow up dirty bomb, Bush is assassinated, California drops off the coast into the ocean, aliens land in New York…

    Not some phone company trying to get extra traffic thru their interwebs.

    Would the story be the same if it wasn’t BREAKING? If it was just a story?
