Taking out old laundry, Japan offers baby drop boxes
In an effort to discourage adoptions or abortions, Japanese drop boxes were created for parents. It’s an odd idea, one that I feel will surely be abused. The box serves as a parental resource for children to be dropped-off during the day.
A Japanese drop box for unwanted babies triggered a wave of nationwide soul searching Wednesday, a day after it was discovered a preschooler — and not an infant — had been dumped there by his father on its first day of operation.
Could anyone imagine a similar "box" setup in their city. What would be the public outcry if such a thing were enacted in your area?
