Google to Aquire Feedburner?

I hope that this is just a vicious fake rumor, but it is being reported that Feedburner will soon be part of Google.

The delay in announcing the deal, I am told is solely due to the delay in closing out the DoubleClick deal.

If true this deal makes a lot of sense for both parties. Today many of us predominately read blogs via our RSS readers and thus never actually visit the original blog source and/or see the sites supporting adverts.

Is anybody else getting sick of Google assimilating companies to expand their already dominant position in the market place?

    Can’t say I have a problem with them buying companies, and apparently neither do the companies being purchased.

    no problem what so ever, often times when google buys out companies, they make the software easier to use, and more importantly, free, so i say let the continue on their path towards world domination, i don’t mind.

    no problem here as long as they don’t turn around and start charging for all of this down the road… which i don’t see happening. my only concern about this would be global advertising in feeds. now that would suck!

    Nothing wrong with acquisition from Google. Feedburner will be better. And maybe, perhaps or going to be, Feeburner will intergrated to Analytics for tracking RSS feed in much better way.

    I am definitely looking for the update of this news.

    If they do buy it, I can imagine them making some/all of the paid for features available for free, as they have done for picasa, sketchup etc

    Oh, yeah.. Assimilate as in tEh “BORG” invasion?

    Personally, I’m pretty pissed and somewhat concerned/weary of what google has been doing lately (for 1.5~2 yrs at least). They are becoming the very “all seeing ..having it all to ourselves” kinda conglomerate they were built to oppose. Plus I hate the fact that Google is luring away possible future competitors/manipulators of internet information and tech. Youtube had the potential, but now they are part of Google too. The day ain’t far, I tell you when Google shall acquire all.. We shall refer to internet from that day on as “Googlenet” or even worse “Gnet” (pronounce this with an emphasis on G, like Gnome. Sounds grose right?)…and like Lavos from Chrono Trigger, we will be able to truly see if Google’s intentions are for the best of the common web-users.

    We will see….

    Is it possible that a company could be the anti-christ?

    Would you not agree that Google has done a lot of good things for the internet? Could you imagine the world wide web being shaped by AOL or Yahoo!?

    It would be so focused on profit and cluttered with crap that we would all be forced to just read a book!
