Brin Goes Google, Gaga Over Wife’s Startup

Seems that Google has made a questionable ($3.9 million) investment in 23andMe, a biotech company. CNet exposed that 23andMe is actually co-founded by the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin. Hmmmmmm.

Although Google claims that Brin was not part of the discussions to invest in that company, Brin personally provided $2.6 million earlier in the year and seems that it raises at least questions about potential conflicts of interest.

In the grand scheme of things $3.9 million to Google is very small, but ethically should such a display of nepotism be tolerated in a public company?

Hmmm…. I found a company, and make billion and billions. Then my wife starts her company, and in order to keep getting some I have to buy her dinky little biotechnology company. I can either divert my attention to family problems, which lets face it, will cost Google an insane amount of money. Or Google buys the wifes company, and she shuts up for a few years while she shops leaving me run Google far more effectively and make my shareholders more money.

I don’t see where the conflict of interest is.

Not disputing your assertion of nepotism, but you stating it as patent fact is irresponsible.
