Apple iPhone to be offered on pre-paid accounts?

A very smart move that will surely convince hesitant customers into trying Cingular service. Surprising news to finally get to my feeds to discover that an internal AT&T memo hints at the availability of the Apple iPhone for pre-paid customers. What does this mean? It means two things – 1) you don’t need to sign a 2-yr. contract agreement, and 2) phone hackers are going to be hard at work getting an iPhone to pay with in order to experiment with unlocking the device.

Expect to pay up the butt for the iPhone for pre-paid account usage. Cingular will want to recoup some of the guaranteed profit from customers who opt to go the month-to-month pre-paid option.
