ABC to Stream HDTV Online

ABC, the network that first streamed programming via an online Flash player, decided this summer that they will stream some of its programs in HD – and not fake HD it will be 1280-by-720 resolution, but no word yet on the bitrate.

In a test the broadcaster expects to launch in early July, ABC.com’s HD channel will feature a limited amount of content in from such series as Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy and Ugly Betty. When ABC launches its new season in September, the site will offer a “more robust” HD lineup.

I think that its great that major broadcasters are streaming high quality media online, with little DRM. Wonder how much the bandwidth bills will be?
