Comcast is cutting off bandwidth hogs

I an internet age where individuals find themselves contstantly connected to the net, you would think that the idea of "limited" bandwidth would be a thing of the past. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Internet giants like Comcast are sending out stern warnings to customers who are thought to be using "excessive" bandwidth. Yes, that’s right. As the internet continues to push the idea of constantly streaming media, companies like Comcast are going around kicking customers to the curb.

Customers across the country have been contacted by the telecom giant with a warning to curb excessive bandwidth consumption or risk a one-year service termination. Comcast, however, is refusing to reveal how much bandwidth use is allowed, making it impossible for customers to know if they are in danger of violating Comcast’s limit.

A load of bologna if you ask me. Comcast is no different from Verizon – with their ridiculous 5GB cap for mobile broadband users.

Four words; They Don’t Need You. They are a Mega Corp Monopoly holder with little to no competition. For every one of us there are forty-five Joe Six Packs who think that the internet is strictly for porn, email and myspace.

I wonder if this applies to those who have the business internet package. That’s what I have anyhow. I got it because I have two room mates who like to d/l like a mutha.

That’s why these big Cable companies are fighting against AT&T and Verizon from deploying in their area.

Now this is just ridiculous. Jack up the price to provide a negative incentive, change policies, but don’t enforce stupid changes on current customers without giving them enough information to know how much is “too much”.

If Time Warner / Oceanic cable did this in Hawaii — I’d go nuts… Luckily we have a couple competitors, Hawaiian Telcom ADSL, Clearwire, POTS Dialup… :-P.

The problem with these policies — re: your observation about joe-sixpack — is that consumers are getting smarter, and all the techheads are being shadowed by a massive amount of normal people using onlines services.

Turn on the dark fiber you monsters!
