    So in order to use the receiver we also need to purchase the software? Grr… Why couldn’t the Mac Pro ship with support out of the box rather than these 3rd party solutions. I was just out today looking for a way to get some wireless freedom with a remote. I’m not about to spend money on a third party accessory unless the features blow my mind.

    Someone that has the Mac Pro setup with a feature packed remote (not that dinky shuffle looking thing) comment away.

    I use the Remote Wonder Plus It has OSX drivers and you can program all of the buttons. The only gripe that I have is that You cant get it to pull up Front Row, I use it to pull up iTheater in my Mac Pro.

    IR is so 1995. Isn’t there a bluetooth remote that will work with my mac’s built-in bluetooth?
    That way I scan skip music tracks from the kitchen. Pause et.c

    I’ve been looking into this solution and you’ve got some of the details wrong…
    The “Manta TR1 external IR sensor” is $19.99 and DEREK, you don’t need the Mira software to use this Manta hardware. Mira is their software solution for adding functionality to the Apple Remote besides just FrontRow. (Mira is $14.95)
