Stick it to Lying CSR’s

If I had a dollar for every time I called a company and was fed wrong or misleading information by a customer support representative or the company had “no record” of my call – I could retire! There is a website that is dedicated to shifting the power BACK to the consumer.

At 321 Call Log, they keep records of your customer service interactions, by recording phone calls you’ve made to customer service centers and can also keep a records of email interactions that you’ve had with customer service centers – all for free!

They also have you covered about the legality of recording conversations:

There is a federal statute and laws in almost all of the states that impose consent requirements on those who wish to record telephone calls. Some of the laws, including the federal statute, require “one party consent”, meaning that an individual can freely record his own telephone calls without seeking consent from the other party. Other states have “all party consent” laws that require consent from all parties to a recorded phone conversation. The jurisdiction of federal and state law is largely unsettled. As a general matter, telephone service is recognized in the U.S. legal system as intrinsically interstate in nature and thus subject to federal jurisdiction. However, the power of states to impose more strict privacy requirements has received very little court review over the years. We believe that our service is intrinsically interstate in nature, as calls will be answered in Florida but processed and routed in either California or New York. FCC decisions and orders (Docket No. 6787, 11 F.C.C. 1033 (1947); 12 F.C.C. 1005 (1947); 12 F.C.C. 1008 (1948) have established that the notification requirement for interstate calls is met if an audible beep tone is generated every 10 seconds as part of the call. 321-CALL-LOG exceeds this requirement by providing an automated voice notification to agents letting then know that the call is being recorded every 60 seconds.

Never again will I interact with customer service, without 321CallLog!

Go snag yourself a beta accout, and watch out Verizon.

I hate that too… Working as a CSR/Tech support rep myself, I don’t know how they get away with stuff like that and still have their jobs…..

Also – Happy birthday Dan! W00T!

i can definately use this website/service. imagine making a payment over the phone, and then finding out the csr never hit the submit button, and having to get stuck with late fees and interest penalties.

GRR…and that verizon thing…they should have their csr take a quiz on dollars and cents before they hire them.
