For those who missed it, the Apple 5th Avenue Store has a HUGE iPhone ad on its cubic facade (Seems Apple has a knack getting free publicity, I’m sure all the blog posts about this will raise the $400 million pricetag). Having a background in NYC Zoning and advertising permits, I wonder if that ad is actually legal? [via]

Not having a background in NYC Zoning and advertising permits, I can’t be sure, but…

Here in Montreal there is an issue with signs in English (they’re illegal – unless there is also a French sign with a larger font). However, so long as one places a sign on the inside of a window, there is not much that can be done. Perhaps this is also true of the “cube.” If the ad is placed on the inside of the window, what could be done about it?

I don’t see how it’s any different than all the in-window displays they have at any of their other stores. It’s their property and (I assume) it’s technically inside the store.
