Brides, now you can look like Snow White

I’d imagine Paris Hilton going for this for her fifth wedding (Oh trust me, there will be more then five).

For the first time, a Disney executive commented publicly on the new line of bridal gowns inspired by Disney princesses. Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo said he expected the dresses to be a hit among brides to be, especially given the increasing popularity of weddings at Walt Disney World, the site of about 2,000 nuptials each year.

First of all, people get married at Disney World? I guess I’ll post this under ‘Stupid’ (or should that be ‘Goofy’?). Secondly, how would it reflect on me if my wife-to-be wanted to dress up as Belle from “Beauty and the Beast”? Thirdly, the dresses will be priced from $1,100 to $2,900. This is certainly not aimed at 8 year old wannabes. Lastly, how on earth will they pull off a wedding dress inspired by “The Little Mermaid”?

Come on guys, how would you feel if your girlfriend asks to dress up as Cinderella for your big night?

    Well yes you can get married there (been to 2 myself) and my girl wants to get married there. However if you can afford to get hitched there, the dress better come free, after all it is just a rental….

    While I’ll grant you that these dresses are a bit much, weddings at Disney World are probably not what you are thinking. (Disclaimer: I worked for Disney one summer in high school.) You don’t get married in the park; you either get married on one of the man made beaches, in a pavilion built just for weddings, or on one of the Disney cruises. For the money you could have a ridiculous ceremony elsewhere I’m sure, but it’s not as though you’re getting married on Space Mountain. http://www.disneyweddings.go.com/site/wed/cou/start/index.jsp

    Disney Weddings are all the rage. As for the cost of the dress, that’s chump change for wedding gowns. I’m betting they can drive that price down because it’s a relatively small line (what- 5 or 6 dresses?) and make them in a full range of sizes. Plus, they have a bazillion seamstresses (seamstrum? seamstra?) on site to do the work.
