Mailed Coins Instead Of Stamps

Apparently, the equivalent of slapping stamps on a letter is taping actual coins. See the results as this guy decides to slap 39 cents in coins + a nickel for the handlers troubles. Surprisingly, the letter arrives at the recipients door in a “sorry your mail was damaged but we care envelope”. The letter, for the most part, was intact minus the “tip” for USPS.

    why would the post office leave the $0.39 on?

    If the money was supposed to cover the cost of a stamp, they would have taken the money off of the envelope, not left it on like a stamp.

    I think it probably got damaged while preparing it at some point (all those coins on the envelope can’t be good for the sorting machines. Maybe it got chewed up in there), and they were going to send it back (hence the “RETURNED OR POSTAGE” stamp), but they felt bad, so sent it to his girlfriend.

    That’s my theory.

    Yah… they would have taken the actual 39cents also for the work that they did…. just like when you buy a stamp, you pay the post office 39 cents and then you get to use that stamp and they cancel it…..

    this is a fraud

    I mailed a rebate a few weeks ago, and borrowed a stamp, i stuck the envelope in the mail and when i got back to the office i realized that i left the stamp on my desk and never put it on the envelope.

    The letter never came back, and then pioneer emailed me saying they got the rebate.

    There must be a USPS fairy out there giving us a break every once in a while.

    Yeah I thought the same. I thought they would have taken the 39 cents off the envelope as well.

    I doubt this is legit.
