OWC/Axiotron ModBook configuration options are now open

OWC/Axiotron is now taking configuration orders from customers who expressed interest in one of their custom built tablet MacBook notebooks. Emails are now going out to customers which unclude a direct URL as well as a unique reservation code which guarantees the special pre-reservation pricing.

Your invitation code will be valid for the special pricing until 2/28/2007. Please use the link above and complete your order prior to this date to receive your special pricing.

At this time, we expect the ModBook Solutions to begin shipping the middle of April. An order placed from a Pre-Reservation will be filled in the order that the actual pre-reservation was received. Your credit card will not be billed prior to the order actually shipping. Further, until your order has shipped, you may cancel at any time.

As much as I enjoy the idea of a tablet MacBook, I can’t justify dropping $2100+ on a machine that would be fairly useless unless I was at home and had access to an external keyboard. There is only so much work that I could possibly do in tablet mode.

Hmmm, I never noticed it wasn’t like most tablet computers, which can simply twist the monitor and be used as a full laptop. It does look nice and all, but I agree, I would need a keyboard to justify having something like this around. On-screen options just don’t cut it.
