How to completely erase your BlackBerry mobile device
Earlier this morning the syncing software that I use between my computer and BlackBerry 8703e decided to act a fritz spitting out errors duplicating content enough to make me want to hurl both computer and machine across the room. I decided the best way to save me time and sanity was to perform a clean software wipe. Sadly, all the tips related to soft and hard resetting the device proved worthless and only added to my irritation.
So how do you completely wipe your BlackBerry device of all data, contacts, & settings?
If you’re running 4.0+ on your device, simply perform one of the two following options:
- Navigate to Options > Security Options > General Settings > Password and select the "Wipe Handheld" option.
- Enable password protection on the handheld and enter your password incorrectly 10 times. Doing so is the equivelant of performing a clean wipe.
The enter your password 10 times incorrectly trick is one that definitely put a smirk on my face. Definitely James Bond… "This message will self-destruct".
