i agree with the danger of the compressed air, but it is a cool idea. Was it me or was that engine VERY loud? sounded like my chainsaw motor is quieter.

I think a more practical application is in the setting during the second half of the show. I don’t really see this thing driving us around on the roads, but perhaps more closed environments.

That seems cool, I wonder what some of the problems with compressed air are…you would think if it is so easy to do, some larger company would be footing this in the U.S. Anyone know some issues against compressed air?

I’ve been following this for about a year. the compressed air isn’t as dangerous as you think it is. the tanks are built at a military level. it would take more than a car accident to cause damage.

The 2800 miles refers to how often you have to refuel the gas in a hybrid air/gas engine, not how long the air tanks last.

Yeah, you can kinda hear him say you would get about 200km off a tank over the engine. Anyone know about how much energy is needed to compress the air that much, especially with the home fueling? I’m hoping it would cost less than gas, but how would it compare with electric cars?

Still, you need gasoline to compress air into the tank. Its the matter of chicken or egg first.

Ummm… Egg came first. About 5-600 million years first… Chickens are surprisingly young as a species.

You also have to clean up how the electricity is produced. You don’t want a clean car with dirty power plants.

What about the air compressor? How do you think it costs?

300 bar isn’t insane by any means – it’s the top end of what you’d expect to find in a scuba tank, for instance. The video doesn’t say what the tank capacity is but assuming 30 litres per tank across 3 tanks – 90 litres @ 300 bar = 27,000 litres of gas.

Although, carbon fibre or not splitting a tank open at full pressure is going to move things about pretty quickly!

Did you people even listen to the video. They address all your stupid comments and more. Gasoline is about the most dangerous thing you can put in your car. Thank God someone is playing around with these ideas and is so close to a solution. While I dont beleive in “Global Warming” I do think that pollution is a serious health problem. If we can find a way we should be looking to do whatever it takes to eleminate the need for oil.
