YouTube will pay you to be creative

People who feed the YouTube giant will soon be getting a share of the profits. Like Chad and Steve we might all start filling up our pockets thanks to YouTube.

YouTube founder Chad Hurley confirmed to the BBC that his team was working on a revenue-sharing mechanism that would “reward creativity”.

Just imagine the implications. I, like many others create and upload videos in YouTube for the fun of it. Well, that and becoming more talked about in our faculty. (My Channel)

What sort of effect will the money factor have in it? Will people become more creative and content will improve? Will we see more painful useless blogs of people thinking aloud? Will it become slower with the damn ads? Our very own Chad broke up with YouTube for several reasons. Will it push more people away from it in the long run? What will YouTube become?

    so how much $$ would you get for a video that got 1 million hits?

    as for them paying money to peoples vids…. I can’t imagine this lasting to long although I think what it will do is help increase the copyright flexibility within the site

    “Hi, Time Warner Calling… it appears some of your users have uploaded clips of one of our shows. This is direct copy right infringement and we want a cease and desist” – Time Warner

    “Oh alright, well that video is still getting a lot of hits and we have close to $3,000 to give you since you are technically the owner of that video” – YouTube

    “Oh…. really?…. well I guess we could leave it up there a bit longer” – Time Warner

    now this just got my brain a cranking… what kind of lawsuits do you think this will lead to? or what about freelance journalism. Think about it… the flood of people watching the Saddam Hanging Video… if I was the first guy to put it up on youtube… I might have been able to make some quick easy change… and video spam will also suck… trying to find a video and finding 400 look a likes that are just a still image excerpt from that clip playing the song “take the money and run”.

    needless to say… this is gonna be interesting.

    Odd… this sounds entirely like Metacafe (or is it mediacafe) where they pay you if you get enough viewers.

    Wouldn’t there be some legal issues in copying business strategies?
