T-Mobile: Special phone not required for My Faves

MyfavesIf you’re not familiar with T-Mobile’s My Faves service plan, the cellular company offers individuals to call up to 5 different phone numbers – mobile or landline – for free. The catch? T-Mobile claims that the service requires special handsets cleared for use on the service plan. You can view the meager offerings for My Faves customers here. As you can see, the pickings are slim.

According to a tipster to the Consumerist, T-Mobile admits the fact that there is no need for a special handset. That users are able to move their SIM card to any GSM handset and enjoy the benefits of the My Faves plan. Great news for anyone who was interested in the service yet apprehensive to sign-up due to the craptacular handset offerings.

So, sign-up with the cheapest damn handset possible (free is better). Then, find the GSM handset of your choice (unlocked) and continue enjoying free calls to any 5 numbers. Note: 1-900 numbers CAN NOT be one of your 5.

    I have a Samsung SGH-X495 and trust me it’s crap but hey its free. Well if you can, using tmobile zone on your phone, one can actually get extra settings and options to your contract. How i get to my faves options is first, using my phone, tzone home then my account, then pick the plans and options link. Then from there one should find a option to change there my faves contacts or add them.

    Just to let you know, as I work for T-Mobile, we are aware of this and if you are doing it take advantange now, as the loop hole is soon closing. Everyone who is doing this is causing quite a rucus in our networks causing usage server delays, such as the #646# feature not wokring correctly. We tell you things for a reason, not because we want you to get a new phone, we already get it all back with the contracts folks sign. But it will be a bad day when it is fixed and people not on the right handsets will be charged overage because they didnt by the handset, and thought they could get over..just fyi,
