Hey Europe, now you can ignore the PS3 too!

With disappointing US sales, Sony has decided to try its luck with the PS3 in Europe

On Friday March 23rd the PS3 hops the pond, and it seems that as with the US at launch preorders and the supply is tight.

Europe will only the get the 60GB version at launch for £425 in the UK or £395 outside the UK. The 20GB version will launch at a later unannounced date.

yes, ignore multiplatform gaming, missing out on exclusive franchises is always the best way to game!

Sounds about right, make the people in the UK pay a premium! REally clever marketing! Why should we pay an extra £30 compared to those on the continent! disgraceful!

  • Cynic821

    Dont live in the UK.

  • viperguy

    Well… where I live they charge U$2500 for a PS3
I guess that you in UK can’t complain much compared to me….

  • Francis

TBH I really don’t want a sucky PS3 anyway, especially not for such an extortionate price!

It’s still ridiculous how we always seem to pay more, and we almost alwasy get these things last.

Where do you live to have to pay $2500?

Not to go in a debate and all but why buy it now?
    - Everyone knows the games both on the xbox360 and PS3 are similar but more expensive on PS3 (see http://uk.gamespot.com/features/6162742/index.html?sid=6162742).
    - It’s F$%£$ expensive today, cheaper tomorrow.
    - you can get beaten up or killed just carrying it back from the shop on the first week… LOL

Oh and to answer the question…. why is UK more expensive?
I read an article about this once.
For manufacturer, England has a nickname: treasure island. No kidding. They know they can make more money there cause everyone has been taught to bite the bullet.
Oh yes, people will complain in the confort of their household, but the very same people will be the first in line to buy a PS3.
more expensive Iphone? more expensive Vista? more expensive PS3? Yes please.

Where are you in the world Viperguy?

  • Chris

Will there supply include re-regioned versions of the leftover US stock? I’d almost think whatever is leftover here will cover the UK.

I live in Brazil…. Technology is something really expensive here…
Just for your fun, here’s some info on the abusive prices:

    iPod Nano 4 gig – 500 dollars
    PS3 – 2500 dollars
    Wii – 1200 dollars
    Xbox 360 – 1500 dollars

And now, Apple hardware. It’s scary, I know, but here are some prices:

Mac Mini (Intel Core SOLO, the first intel mac mini with the basic settings) – 1300 DOLLARS!
iMac (Intel Core DUO, again, the first iMac powered with intel processors, 17”, basic configs) – 3200 DOLLARS!!!
Macbook (Intel Core Duo, the first Macbook launched too) – 2400 Dollars.

The only product of this list I actually have is an iPod Nano… that one friend brought from the USA to me, of course lol… I’m not paying such an abusive price. So bad I can’t do the same with more expensive things =p

My gosh, that’s expensive. I love my Wii but not $1200 worth. For that price, I’d just buy a Mac…

… On second thought, I think I’d avoid tech altogether in Brazil.

  • Cynic821

id pay 1200 for a wii, NO problem. its that great.

but in any case…Dont live in Brazil.

  • viperguy

Considering that 50% of the population has to survive with 175 dollars a month… Not many people have those things here lol
