German motorist did what he was told to do and crashed
Here’s an example of technology having the upper hand for certain individuals. A German motorist was studiously following the directions emitted from his dashboard GPS unit as millions of other drivers around the world do. Unfortunately, this particular driver realized all too late that his GPS unit was reading back incorrect directions.
The motorist was heading into the north German city of Bremen “when the friendly voice from his satnav told him to turn left,” a spokesman said.
“He did what he was ordered to do and turned his Audi left up over the curb and onto the track of a local streetcar line. He tried to back up off the track but got completely stuck.”
Yes, that’s right. The motorist followed directions, hopped a curb, and got himself stuck across a pair of train tracks. It’s time to stop believing that TomTom, GPS directions, or satellites know best when it comes to driving.
