Vista, makes it TV debut

Microsoft has released its first television commercial for Windows Vista (Did I mention how much I dislike that name?). The new Vista commercial wants to illustrate to users to “see the difference” The verdict: Microsoft needs to see a new ad agency!

UPDATE: And just for fun, here are all the alert sounds bundled in Vista – Enjoy!

Don’t you just love how it says “see the difference” without actually showing you the product? Microsoft’s new slogan should be “smoke and mirrors.”

  • Lyle

For a two minute comercial this shows absolutly nothing. And it sure makes you read a lot.

  • Jeremy

Whoever might have been watching that would flip the channel after five seconds–unlike the Mac/Windows guy commercials.

Good God…that is the most awful and annoying song I have ever heard in a commercial, make it stop!!

    Wow, this spot really sucks.

  • wwwben

    wow..

    everyone is so critical.

it wasn’t that bad.. I saw it on t.v.
    and here

  • Hitsuji

I love this add its all about the features already in XP and NOT the new features in Vista

  • gram

Umm… what was that all about? “See the difference.” What difference? That this sucked and makes the Mac/PC ads look great in comparison.

  • Jimmy

SECURITY MY ASS! I just hacked it!!!! ^&^ hahahahah

I like how Microsoft have described it as “more secure” and “more reliable” and not just as “reliable” and “secure”.

The wording of this just suggests to me that they anticipate security problems and probably crashing problems, just not as many as with XP!

i kinda like it… no really, but this “ad” is doesnt look like an ad, is more like a keynote intro… monotone, with lots of word, doesnt say much about the product.

Hey, wait people. You saw that woman listening on headphones. This must be one of those new features, music. Who’d a funk it

  • matt

That is one terrible transition from the beginning (zooming in on the windows logo) to the white background w/ text. Also, the commerial in general is not attention captivating at all. boooo

  • chad

someone really dropped the ball on this one… I couldn’t even finish watching it between all the reading and saxophone…

the irony is the entire commerical is geared towards business… which is where MS rules the market by all means…. where I find all the irony is all the tech publicist saying “Don’t Do Vista… stick to XP”

is Vista going to be the PS3 launch of OS’s?

  • Viperguy

    It’s funny…
But I find most of these features on the crappy xp…
But I really doubt security was ever a microsoft feature…

oh god, i can make a better commercial with my eyes blindfolded

i make commercials and i can tell Microsoft is going to need a new ad agency

Well, it definitely feels like a Microsoft ad.

I’m a windows technician and I didnt even finish watching it. Got bored…not a catchy spot. A waste of cash on MS’s part imo.

  • Dan

First off, it doesn’t describe ANY new “veatures” – it only rattles off a bunch of buzz-words. Big Deal.

Secondly, it’s a confused ad. It first targets OEM business clients, then targets end-users, and there is no idication of price..

Thirdly, there is NO comparison between old and new – so how are the viewers supposed to see a “difference”?

    Bleh!

  • Jerry

Tell me this is going on CNBC or some financial station? Not something people watch like FX, or Comdey Central?

Looked more like a PowerPoint presentation with no real photos than a consumer commercial.

  • Jeffrey

    windows blah..

  • Ian

The funny thing is MicroSoft CAN”T fire their ad agency. They are their own ad agency. They have their own TV studios that creates all those ads.
