TIOTI – Tape It Off The Internet (Beta)
Tape It Off The Internet (TIOTI) [beta page] recently sent a handful of beta invites out to patient potential users. The service aims to provide members with a one-stop resource for tracking, discovering information / news, and locating available downloads for their favorite television shows. Ignoring the legalities of such a service, is Tape It Off The Internet a web service worth turning towards for television shows?

Hi, we’re glad you made it. Let us introduce ourselves. Tape It Off The Internet, or TIOTI for short, is a new service tracking all your favourite TV shows, providing show and episode guides, areas to add comments and help you to download shows.
Taking a peak at the homepage along, users may be somewhat confused as to what the service aims to deliver. “Discover, Share, Download, Chat, and Tag”. Sounds like the Web 2.0 spin was dropped on the simple process of bittorrenting television shows.
After a few quick searches for my personal favorites including Lost, Prison Break, and Day Break, I was a little turned off by the results [which were a little on the light side]. I imagine that over time, as the user base increases, the recommendation engine and tagging functionality may prove to add a little bit of that “social” factor fun making the service worthwhile.
Personally, I think I’ll stick with a little Mininova and my favorite bittorrent client.
