Shout-out to Entomologists or bug fanatics

Unknown bug - what is this?

Unknown bug - what is this?

Here’s a shout-out to any current Entomologists or bug fanatics. See the little critter pictured above? I tried to identify the bug based on a number of Google searches but came up empty. Does anyone with an interest in these types of things have any idea what it is? Found in the Pacific Northwest region (indoors). The object that it is contained in is the end cap for an iSight (for scale size reference). Ideas?

It looks to me like a larval form of a Carpet Beetle, Family Dermestidae. I hope this helps…

Kent, after doing a few more Google searches using your useful tip, I can agree that it does look like a Carpet Beetle. I guess my friend will have to check her house now.

Hey no kidding aside here, one of those things fell out of my hair once, as i was on my desk. I felt something itching in my scalp so scratched it and it fell of, started wriggling around. I just killed it but yeah i would like to know what it is as well. (I live in London UK) I suspect it might be a baby moth or something, because thats the only flying insect we have around my house at this time of year.
or even a baby Ear Wig. I think its probably a baby earwig. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earwig

as evil as they might look they are actually totally harmless. those pincers are only used for defence and in mating..

    Orrrrrrr…. it can be this.
