Remind me to stop visiting Taco Bell

Something like this was bound to happen at a fast food Mexican restaurant that served up cheap sloppy looking tacos. Despite that the fact that the Cheesy Gordita Crunch will be one tough snack to beat (why aren’t they serving these anymore?), I think I’ll refrain after hearing that manure laced onions were thrown into the mix (albeit accidentally).

The Mexican fast-food chain Taco Bell is at the centre of America’s latest food scare, after nearly 100 people were reported to have fallen sick with an acute bacterial infection after eating contaminated green onions at Taco Bell restaurants.

The chain immediately dropped the onions at all 5,800 of its North American outlets, and closed dozens of branches along the eastern seaboard. Government investigators working on similar cases are trying to find out how vegetables apparently infected by animal faeces entered the food chain.

So, what’s for lunch today ladies and gents? I was actually planning on grabbing some Mexican today at a sit-down but hearing this kind of spoils my appetite. I think I’ll refrain from eating anything with onions… For at least a day.

Please, I’ve been eating this crap (pun intended) for decades….. Even on Monday for dinner when this started.

Why does everyone say “stop eating at [insert name of restaurant here]! They had E. coli/salmonella/shigella/et cetera!” When a restaurant has a food bourne illness problem, that’s exactly where you want to eat because they’re going to be under a lot of pressure to be extra clean and extra safe.

Of course, if hearing about manure-laced onions causes you to lose your appetite, then you should probably just avoid food for a little while.

This is not just taco bell, it’s a lot of places. Most places have banned the use of green onions. This is just like the spinach scare a while back.
