Netflix Previews – The beginning of downloads?

Hacking NetFlix poses the question: Is the latest Netflix Previews the beginning of a download service? [via]

Netflix quietly updated the Windows version of the Netflix Previews feature, and it requires a download component that installs like the Amazon Unbox Player or the Wal-Mart Video Player. Could this be the beginning of the Netflix movie download service?

Being a loyal Netflix fan, I would love to see some type of downloading service materialize. I’d be interested in seeing how they address the movie downloading arena. Then again, I’m not sure if it really matters. I mean, doesn’t everyone rip the movies that come in through the mail anyway?

    I’ve actually only ripped a couple of them to time-shift. I watch them and then delete them. I simply don’t have enough storage to keep all the movies i get!

    Hopefully if they do this, it will be Mac compatible or maybe even integrated into Windows Media Center so i can stream netflix movies to my Xbox 360.
