Heelys on a vert ramp

Heelys, dubbed “Freedom is a wheel in your sole”, are making statements with the usual inhabitants of skate parks / vert ramps [via]. Check out the above video and witness the trickery possible with a simple wheel placed strategically in the heel of both shoes.

Man, this video makes me wish I was 12 again …

  • Dan

i think i just got a little gayer

  • mackmack

looks fun for 5 minutes before your legs cramp up having you hold your heal at that straight angle. Seems like a lot of work.

put a motor in those things and it might be cool.

haha, man, finally the grind plates are back, I think the heelies are stupid. They bought SOAP shoes and then stopped using the grindplates and now they are putting them back in, I wish they would make up their minds. They need to come out with a new line of soaps… sigh.

….. I worked in a surf shop and a business man came in and ordered a pair of these in mens size 11 (we didn’t stock them because… well men don’t wear heelys) when asked “why are you buying heelys in size 11 he replied “well I travel alot and I think this will make getting from one end of a flight terminal to the other to catch connecting flights faster and easier”.

I would have never even thought about using them for that, but he did!

never did hear if it worked out for him or not, but I can just imagine a 30 something man in a 3 piece suit rolling past me on heelys with a brief case and think “wtf … did that just happen?!”

  • Jimbo

Stupid… Anyone over the age of 8 looks like an idiot with those things on.

  • Dogcow

I’d go as far as to say most people look like idiots. In fact, a wheel in the heel might make them look a little bit smarter.

I’ve wondered for a while if those were appropriate for adults to wear…I think this video proves that they’re not. sad.

  • cachaca

Well…I am a 30 something individual who happens to own a pair of Heelys.
Yes, I actually wear them in airports, grocery stores and the like. Once you get the hang of it, it does become second nature to “heel” on short smooth stretches.

As for looking like an idiot, sure, go ahead and laugh. I guess I could not care less. I very much like the shoes.

Walking is for chumps. Or fat lazy slobs who know nothing, do less than nothing and yet continue to share MY air.

    Dan, that would be IMPOSSIBLE.
mackmack, try it before you judge. Better yet, just shut up.
ghostshadow, I think I hear your mom calling you to clean up your room.
Jimbo, I would love to see what you look like in person. I know you’re a mess.
Dogcow, we should have a beer. My treat.
Steven, try to worry less about “appropriateness”, grow up and be a man.
Cachaca, we need to take a boulevard roll. Afterwards, we’ll get together with Dogcow and drink beer.

if i saw a 30 yr old man on those things, i would trip him just for even thinkin it was ok to do that. its already annoying enough when some lil short brat nearly kills u trying to gilde past u, let alone some grown man who should have more common sence than that. people who buy them for their kids are annoying and buying them for yourself is even worse. that has to be the dumbest thing i ever heard. and yea, cachaca, i would laugh at u. right in your face. and i’m surprised if u havent been laughed at yet.
