The great selloff begins: The PS3 meets eBay

zz686c6561.jpg

After last nights madness and scramble to snatch up one of the 400,000 Playstation 3′s, it seems that eBay is the only entity to benefit from the consoles release.

Just doing a quick search on eBay yielded over 5,000 results that have prices ranging from $2,000 – $5,000. Insanity.

Do you think the a $3,000 price tag is justified on a PS3.

    One word: No.

I find it incredibly funny that there were no lines to get the Zune and that they’re still on store shelves.

As for me, my xbox 360 does everything and more than i need it to (plus a lot of the kinks are worked out).

This is one thing that i HATE about our materialistic, greedy culture: people have lost the word “patience” from their vocabulary. They’re never satisfied with what they have and need to get the “latest and greatest” stuff.

    Absolute idiots…….

For $3000 you could pick up a badass 42″ Plasma/LCD, a nice surround sound setup, and a premium 360, as well as a few games of your choosing.

These types of people must be related to the idiot that offered me $300 for a “Tickle-Me-Elmo” about 8 years ago. I turned him down, and gave it to my then 2 year-old for Christmas. He played with it for about 2 days, and chunked it in a corner, never to be played with again. However I got more out his enjoyment with the toy for the 2 days than selling it to some deranged crackhead for mega profit.

I guess from now on I’ll just have to reflect back on the last day-one console launch that I was part of…….the N64. Ah, the good old days without all of the fanboy hype and media frenzy. I showed up at Walmart on the day of the N64 launch about an hour after opening, and they had no idea what an N64 was, or if they even had one. After searching the storeroom, they found 4 of them, an me and my bro went home to play the best.game.ever. Super Mario 64

$3000 might also cover the hospital bills for having your anus surgically repaired after your PS3 purchase.

    @Mark about the Zune…..

I was actually at the Microsoft Campus in Charlotte all day yesterday, and after asking several random MS employees if they had seen or knew anything about the Zune, I was completely shocked to find that most of them had no clue what it was. Nor was it available in the company’s employee store.

Sounds like a terrific launch plan to me.

Hey, Mister “latest and greatest”, what were you doing when the 360 came out. Probably the same thing everyone else was, creamin’ your pants. Why aren’t you still playing Atari, and I don’t mean the 2600. While I don’t agree with selling the PS3 on ebay, there are those dorks who have to have one that bad. As for me, I’ll wait ….(cause we all know the 360 first came out ). PS:Patience

Money brings out the best and worst in personalities.

In the past 24 hours, I personally witnessed bribes, backbiting, slander, deceit, alcohol given to minors, paranoia by people waiting in line for a game console (ie piece of plastic.)

The whole thing was a great social experiment. You could see the tribe come together, split, alliances form.

And then, the ‘lifeboat’ mentality would hit and the populace would decide who would be thrown overboard.

How much is your character worth?
    How much is your integrity?
Is it worth berating your fellow man?

I don’t think so. I stood in line and held my ground but you’ve got to question your limits.

Great way to teach our kids the value of greed.

Don\’t get me wrong, it would be a great little toy to have, but come on…think of how much beer you could buy instead…priorities people!

  • Adrian

    thats crazy expensive

  • you guys are missing it

Guess what, If I had the time to stand in line for 2 days to get a PS3 for $600 then be able to sell it on ebay for $3000, I totally would. You Idiots are reading way to deeply into this!!! (ie. bad humanity…social experiment…) dont be rediculous. people that are selling these on ebay, making 500% return on thier investment are taking advantage of a great situation. WTF is whong with that. The people “buying” the ps3 on ebay are probaly the kids of some wealthy familly or have a ton of $$, not people spending thier welfare checks on a ps3. whats wrong with allowing the rich to buy what they want for insane prices, Which they can afford cause “they are RICH”!!!
Its an investment opportunity for the people selling them on ebay, nothing more. so Chill out!

I noticed most of the high-end completed auctions (like $20k-$50k) have winners with 0 to 2 feedback ratings…

    Good luck collecting!
