Sony PSP 3.0 update released (In Japan)

psp01.jpg

Sony Japan has released firmware ver 3.0 for the PSP which includes quite a few additions like the Auto UMD setting which prevents a game from loading when the UMD is inserted. In addition to this it has the Camera function which allows to use the optional add on camera to be released later. However the main addition is the tight integration with the PS3 which allows you to view images and play music stored on the PS3 when connected via Wi-Fi. You can also use the PSP as a remote control for the PS3 (Remote Play).

No mention yet about the ability to play PS2 and PSOne games, but I figure Sony would want to fix that bug on the PS3 first.

Hmmm, upgrade my firmware to work with a game system that isn’t widely available yet and is extremely buggy OR leave it at it’s current firmware and enjoy being able to emulate several “classic” gaming systems.

    Decisions, decisions. ;-)

Actually, there were announcements about emulators on the PSP. It basically says that to play the PS1 games on your PSP you have to download them from the Playstation Store (through the PS3) and then transfer them to the PSP.
