Microsoft has the Blues, McAfee can’t take a joke

It’s not often anyone can write that Microsoft has a sense of humor, but for once they do. The screen saver BlueScreen v3.2 (figures it took Microsoft until version 3.2), a result of Microsofts acquisition of Sysinternals, is designed to poke fun Redmond’s software-coding skills. Apparently McAfee can’t take a joke.

McAfee, is actively preventing users from downloading the software. The company’s security research team told ZDNet UK this week: “This is not a false positive. We are intentionally detecting this as Joke.Bluescreen.c, as it’s meant to scare people.”

Come on McAfee, its a joke. What’s next? An aversion to flying toast?

that’s the last thing you would want burned into your brand new LCD :)

LCD doesnt suffer from burn in….that would be plasma. Or pre-SVGA CRTs.

To make the screen saver more effective, you should only be able to exit the screen saver by giving the 3 finger salute. How would that be for a joke. The unsuspecting user wouldnt think it was a screen saver, since moving the mouse wouldnt take it away.

McAfee hasnt been kind (performance-wise) to PCs for years, why should they be concerned about a simple screen saver. Maybe the McAfee programmers should have to use workstations that run their craptastic software on a daily basis.

I actually installed this like a week ago. It’s so cool….I wonder what my roommate will think if he suddenly saw a “new” screensaver!

Apparently it doesn’t react to mouse movement. Scared the crap outta me for a second, I thought my computer actually bluescreened until I hit space.

McAfee -is- a joke. Let’s here it for AVG….
