Interested in secure file transfer up to 4GB?

If you’re looking for personal or professional secure (as in 128-bit AES encryption) file sharing between contacts, check out the current Civil Netizen (beta).

Civil Netizen screenshot

Whether for personal or professional use, Civil Netizen helps you with data transfer for files up to 4GB in size through a simple drag-and-drop interface. No more FTP clients, zip utilities, encryption programs, and download managers. Your files are now 100% private and secure. Best of all, Civil Netizen will always be free for unlimited use. Absolutely no adware or spyware.

With available clients for both Windows & OS X, why would anyone consider using anything else? On top of support for file transfers up to 4GB, Civil Netizen’s integrated download manager will automatically resume downloads in the event your net connection goes out. Simply drag files into the file manager, receive your parcel ticket to share, and track picked-up parcels.

The downside? In order to transport parcels, senders and receivers will need to download the software. Feel free to browse through the rest of the FAQ for additional information.

That sounds great, and apparently it’s free!

Does this work like Bittorrent? I.e. If I send it to multiple recipients will I need to upload it as many times or will the others contribute to the share?

Great concept, it doesn’t work on my iBook though. A ‘restrictive router or firewall’ seems to be the problem. Little Snitch allows it any network connection, and I don’t know what’s wrong with my router or firewall. I’ll just wait and hope it’ll be fixed in a later version.

Kinda like Pando, then, except Pando has a smaller file size limmit.
I agree with Stijn, great concept but it’s a pain getting it to work. My firewall is configured properly on both PCs when I try and use it, but it just doesn’t want to work. I’ll just have to keep trying I guess.
