I am going to sue every person who posts these…

You never come to realize the depth of the internet until something or someone chances upon your personal directory of images online without your knowledge. This is a perfect example of why your precarious habits of sharing files without hesitation may very well come back to haunt you. Take the story of an innocent blogger who happened to have a few personal [nude] images of herself uploaded online into a “private” directory. The problem was that this directory was not actually private due to the fact that a) the directory was visible, and b) there was no security login.

I have since taken all of my pictures offline but if you remember what I look like please email me asap if you see any pictures of me being posted anywhere. I am going to sue every person that posts these as well as the malicious Digg user who thought it would be funny to let the world see images that were meant for OUR EYES ONLY. I am not sure but I am asking the lawyer that is friends with my cousin if we can go after the people that viewed these. It clearly stated that it was a private folder of stolen pictures so I’m sure it’s illegal for anyone to look at them.

Careful what you share online people. Although you may think you’re sly by hiding files into a directory that you think no one will ever find, know that there are others out there wittier than you who will have nothing to do but allow their curiosity to poke around in other peoples business.

Anyone have a link to the original Digg story?

I believe it was removed from Digg. I couldn’t find a valid link.

She would not be able to sue the people that have viewed the pics. They weren’t password protected nor in a totally private folder. She can, however, sue the jackass that posted the link to Digg, they weren’t his to share. If not for a breach of privacy, she can sue for copyright infringment as well (if they were reposted anywhere else).

She can sue for anything she wants. Will she win? Copyright infringement if they were reposted, yes. Linking to her pictures on Digg? There’s nothing at all illegal about that. Seeing as what I’ve been sued for, and others (think of the 2600 and DeCSS debacle), who knows what some idiot judge would rule. She shouldn’t be able to sue for linking, and she definitely shouldn’t be able to sue and WIN.

Damn it I really want to see the pics now. Talk about getting a person curious and what is with this

“and (this is so embarassing but those who paid us need an explanation) a few pictures Tim took of me while I was using the bathroom.”

In the bathroom! Nasty little fetishists.

Actually, you’d be surprised how many images will show up using a google search using the right search paramaters. No disclaimers, no copycrap info, just ur private pics for all to enjoy. Bottom line, if you don’t want people to see ur pics, don’t post em. BTW, keep in mind the internet is not restricted to America, so imagine how hard it will be to sue somebody in oh say Afghanistan or Iraq, just to name a few. Also BTW, I love it when bloggers discover that people actually visited their pathetic little attempts at ‘being discovered’ and then find out they were, showing off their worst sides. Sorry but no sympathy for stupidity!
