Google Desktop drops its skin

See-thru Google DesktopThe latest releases of Google Desktop is now see-thru. Google has adopted a new preference which allows Google Desktop users to manage their desktop with a Google Desktop interface which now plays with a little transparency.

I don’t know about you, but I think Google is definitely doing a great job experimenting with its application interfaces. Does anyone see a Google Talk client being released with the option to toggle transparency for inactive windows in the near future? I think so.

Does anyone know of any decent Windows utilities – free pricetag preferred – which allows users to tweak the transparency of active / inactive windows? I know OS X users can get by playing with Afloat. Windows users might want to check out a previous post concerning a hidden taskbar.

    I’ve been using DM2 for years: http://dm2.sourceforge.net/index.html

BTW: Do you know of a way to skin the sidebar? Google has gone through quite a few versions, and don’t really care for the latest one. It looks too much like Vista to blend in well on my XP machine.
