Are you a grunter?

Who doesn’t let the occasional grunt slip out during a strenuous workout? Apparently grunting is one such “activity” which is not allowed in Planet Fitness gyms.

You can lift, strain, crunch and sweat all you want at the Planet Fitness in the Dutchess County village. But whatever you do, do not grunt.

Yep, “no grunting.” It says so, in black and white, on a sign posted at the gym. One former member learned the new rule the hard way.

“This is really absurd, especially the part about the grunting,” said Al Argibay, a corrections officer who learned first-hand “no grunting” means exactly that.

A ridiculous membership rule. What’s next? No panting or deep inhaling or exhaling? Are any readers current members at Planet Fitness gyms?

yeah i belong to PF, and yes grunting is forbidden, mostly they dont want people doing the old constipated sounds when they are lifting because, 1. it draws attention to them and 2. it intimidates the little guys (like me!)

so no more ARRGGHHHH, or UGGGHHHH

I have to say its pretty annoying to have a (loud) grunter beside you… But forbidding it is just dumb.

Wold you rather hear a few grunts between reps, or the blah blah blah of people pretending to workout while chatting about last nights episode of Lost or Desperate Housewives?

Id rather have some pumpkin pie…

but he knew the rules when he signed up, so if he was upset he has no legitimate reason to be.
