IMEEM – The best of social media?

It’s been quite some time since IMEEM surfaced about one year ago. Since then, the “social networking” service has transformed into a multimedia platform including a file / contact management application accessible for both Windows and OS X users. I revisited IMEEM and am quite impressed with the features now offered by the service. From the looks of it, IMEEM has transformed into a full multimedia – photos, music, blogs, and movies – social network.
So how does IMEEM establish networked connections for users allowing everyone to share files? By creating its own proprietary instant messaging network. Using a buddy list of contacts, users can easily share files amongst friends and families – creating photo albums, audio playlists, or video archives. Taking the “sharing is caring” idea even further, IMEEM allows provides a web platform from which to share with the entire internet.
Think Flickr, YouTube, Box.net, and instant messaging rolled-up into a single service. Just what everyone is looking for? Or, yet another service to drop into the social network driven media pool?
