Buy a VW and get a guitar

061003_vw.jpg Between October 3rd and December 31st of this year, Wolkswagen will be bundling an electric guitar with its new cars, one that plays directly through the car’s audio system. The guitar itself will be customized with the VW logo and the Vehicle Identification Number of the owner’s Volkswagen. It will also come with custom colored pick guards complementing the exterior of the car. The guitar is made by First Act, who’ve recently sold some of their stuff to Aerosmith, Franz Ferdinand and Maroon 5.

    Wait a minute. First Act? Aren’t they like, for four year olds? I remember seeing their instruments at Toys R Us when I was younger.

    What kind of idiot would want to play his guitar IN his car? Even if you stand outside your car, what are you going to do? throw a concert in the parking lot? Or maybe this is the next big move for a new sequel to the movie Say Anything… perhaps John Cusack will be buying this for his new role ;)

    But you know what the worse part is? The commercial. It has Slash playing a Volkswagen guitar with Volkswagens for speakers. Did I mention they were Volkswagens? Slash, one of the greatest guitar gos of all times, has gone from Guns N’ Roses to Velvet Revolver to Volkswagen. Does anyone else see the downward slump?

    Will this sell even 1 extra jetta? If you play guitar, you don’t want this piece of crap. If you don’t play guitar, why would you buy a car that throws in a guitar. (That you wont use.)
    They should just stick to giving away ipods. Or maybe condoms or something.

    i think its a cool idea that you can play through your car. go to the beach, plug in and play. i love playing for people its a great feeling, and if youve got talent you can brag to the surrounding area by impressing them with your tunes.
