The “Series 3″ TiVo costs HOW MUCH?!

Wow, the folks over at TiVo sure think highly of themselves. DVR’s are a becoming a highly commoditized item, often subsidized by your television provider. Despite that fact TiVo has decided to price their next generation box, according to next month’s Popular Mechanics, at the absurd price $800.

The often delayed, and much maligned revision sports high definition recording, only via cable card support. With the limited feature set, and ridiculous price point the adoption rate of this unit should be expected to be low. [via]
