No Core 2 Duo laptops expected for Apple until 2007

It is rumored that Apple will not have a portable featuring Intel’s Core 2 Duo chip until 2007 due to supply issues at Intel.

…Woodcrest is getting the lion’s share of production, over 70% of Xeons will be new. Conroe is next in line with 20+%, followed by a syphilitic trickle of Meroms… What this means is Apple is faced with putting out laptops that have cases made of real unobtanium, or they can wait and roll it out right. Since it is mole migration season, I have been asking many of the little critters streaming past my house, and they all say that iMeromBooks are a 2007 product.

Granted this is not a fact, but this may come as a sigh of relief from current Mac Book (Pro) owners.

This is crap…if there was such a shortage, why release the Core 2 Duo iMacs? And why would other notebook makers get dibs on the chips while Apple gets left in the cold? This is just absurd, IMO.

Well back at macrumors.com if you read carefully, this is just a speculation. I think its just a rumor to get the mac addicts a little uneasy (pardon the pun) before an incredible surprise announcement when we all dont expect it, if you know what i mean. Also i might mean that the final inventory of macbook pros will be sold in good time for the release which i dont think has changed from schedule. Could this be a good guess?

hold on, is it me or did they just bump up the 1.8′s to 2ghz on macbook pros?

    It’s just you ; )

I think we’ll see Apple updating the Macbook line within the next couple weeks. Since they’ve ponied up with Intel chips, it’s pretty imperative that they keep up with other computer makers now. Introducing Core 2 Duo notebooks 3-4 months after Dell et. al. would be a very bad thing…
