New study claims men are smarter than woman

a women’s intelligence matures completely around 13. So this study is more than fair.

as a man i would say “yay”, but… IQ test are a Joke, Biased and Inacurate.
I see a lot of woman more smarter than some of my friends, and of course i see a lot of men more intelligent than my girlfriend. soo, i would say men are as smart as a woman and woman are as smart as a men.

but that just me…

well im not sure if a man’s intelligence matured completely by 18. I am only 20 and i know for a fact I am smarter now then when I was 18, haha.

Since my wife may read this, I would say we are equal…some of the time.

There are so many wiser and more useful subjects –of course, for them you need to work hard to be recognized, while showing a macho study guarantees success without any work.

What a BS response to a post which was meant to invite readers into seeing what worthless research projects are beind conducted by the “knowledgeable” neighbores living next door.

You are a complete idiot if you think that the authors on UNEASY are the same authors who actually publish these research findings. Do people even click through to read the source these days?

Intelligence as measured by IQ tests is supposed to be measured during the teenage years, optimally. It’s not a measure of “smartness” – even though you know more at 20 than you did at 18, your “intelligence” hasn’t really changed, you’re just less ignorant. “Intelligence” as measured by a valid IQ test is supposed to be a measure of your ability to reason, think logically, analyze, sort and remember things in your head, etc. It is basically constant throughout your life, no matter when you’re tested. There is a small portion that IS question and answer on random topics, but it is a very small portion.

How are IQ tests biased? The way they’re created is by testing a large amount of subjects, and defining a curve around the scores. 100 IS average, because it’s defined to be so.

I wouldn’t say this is a worthless research project, I think it’s pretty interesting. The result, a 4 point difference, isn’t really a huge deal. I don’t know if it’s even statistically significant. It’s still interesting.

IQ isn’t everything. When I was 16 and the WAIS III (Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale) had recently come out, I was tested by a psychometrist (http://www.choa.org/default.aspx?id=942) and got a 146, the 99.9th percentile. I’m good in the areas that it tested. However, it can’t measure things like, say, creativity…I have little. It can’t measure how well you’ll do in life or how well you’ll deal with people, which can go a long way (I don’t deal with people well).

If we’re to really interpret these results with any meaning, we’ll need more than just the means; standard deviation and sample size for both genders and the overall study would be greatly helpful. Not to mention a good t-test to see if the 4-point difference is even significant.
If it fails the t-test, then statistically the means for each gender is the same.
