It’s friday, time to slow things down

Amazing time-lapse video of a sprawling city. It’s too bad the clip was so short. By the way, does anyone happen to know what that track is playing in the background? Thanks Syl.

The music is from Gattaca’s score.

Great ear Michael. I’m grabbing me a copy ASAP. I know I heard it somewhere but couldn’t put my finger on it.

    Watch Baraka.

Anyone see the ufo at 0:15 at the top right?

  • ClaMs

True Rob, that is a weird image. I’ve never seen any commercial planes turn that sharply in the air unless they were close to an airport…
…and there doesn’t seem to be an airport close to the site concered, as it lokks to be the only ‘plane’ around.

It’s not a bird for sure. I’ve never seen birds so bright.

Must be Superman smoking a huge joint then… That explains both the bright light and the sudden change in direction.

The music from the clip is the main theme to the movie Gattaca, a great and under-appreciated movie by the way :D

Only time-lapse can make Los Angeles look clean. Oh I love my home :-P.

heh, maybe there was a problem at LAX and the plane had to go to annother airport? after all LA has multiple airports.

Or a helicopter searching for gang members on the loose? lol

By the by, this is apparently done just using 1 shot per second still photography? I’m not a photographer and so have no idea, just some comments on the youtube link suggest that.

The technique they used appears to be holding the shutter down but doing 1 second exposures.

just as if you held the shutter down on full automatic, the camera will continue to take pictures. just set a shutter priority of 1s and hold the button down, you’ll get a series of frames that can be put together into a movie easily.

    I don’t have a 20d though, so I’m guessing.
