Apple Stamping Nano Chips to hide Function and Manufacturers Identity

Apple doesn’t think you, or their newest iPods, can keep a secret. In the latest revision of the Nano, Apple has stepped up the level of secrecy by camouflaging certain parts in the music player.

To hide certain components, Apple has stamped their logo on three unknown chips on the Nano’s circuit board, concealing their functions and manufacturers’ identities, a move that has never taken before.

This is designed to prevent competitors from using Apple’s R&D to develop a competing product.
