42 cents/min. Podcast transcripts
For the more detail oriented who would rather read through a Podcast transcript rather than having to hear individuals make corny jokes, worthless side rants, or go completely off tangent from the topic which spurred your interest to begin with.
CastingWords (thanks Eric) is a pay-for service which allows Podcast owners or listeners to convert an audio source into a physical text rendition – a Podcast transcript in either plain text, HTML, or RTF.
42 cents/min. doesn’t sound too bad right? A 15-minute Podcast would only set you back six dollars and some change. I would actually prefer if some Podcasters offered transcripts by default for situations where reading would have made more sense than actually listening.
I can’t imagine the life of a Podcast translator. I imagine a t-shirt clad individual huddled in the corner squeezing his/her headphones tighter against their ears in an attempt to identify every discernible syllable. “Hey, hey man, what are you listening to?” “Shutup!!!! I’m trying to UNDERSTAND Ben!” (Just kidding Ben.)
