VPN-less VPN! Access your files and iTunes from ANYWHERE

I had my hesitation when I first heard about this product, however after two months of using Hamachi I can’t help but RECOMMEND it.

Here is a quick rundown of what Hamachi does:

With Hamachi you can organize two or more computers with an Internet connection into their own virtual network for direct secure communication [regardless of location in the world].

Hamachi is fast, secure and simple. It is also free.

Basically it is secure LAN over the Internet, which allows you to access computers remotely, use file sharing, run private Web or FTP servers, and SHARE iTUNES MUSIC. Thats right, you can easily access your home computer and its shared iTunes library simply by running Hamachi on both the host and client computers.

If you are really curious on HOW it works, you can read this great transcript here, but frankly just install it and use it if you have multiple machines. Your network that Hamachi creates is secure and accessible to only you or to anyone you provide the name and password to the network to.

I didn’t want to get too geeky in the post if you have any questions on what Hamachi does, how it works, or how it would benefit you, drop us an email or leave a comment, and we will try to answer all your questions.

Download Now (PC) or Download Now (Mac).

Hamachi has proven itself over and over for me. I can’t count the times it’s saved me in the office. Very nice tool.

That is pretty tight Dan, I had read about this months ago and had been meaning to give it a try, with your recent revelations with it, I definitely will install it over the weekend and see how it does.

I’ve used it for a little while about a year ago or so (maybe more), but it just kinda faded away from me. But now that you mention that it can share iTunes music it’s time to give it a go once again. Thank Dan.

    Dude – It totally rocked.

On my trip to london, I just launched Hamachi, and boom my shared iTunes library popped up. Then if I wanted the song on my laptop, I could just mount my iMac via Apple’s sharing protocol, and done.

plus, if you get a couple friends on it, you can have lan parties from miles away/across the ocean :)

Hrmn… would this support Apple Remote Desktop?

Anything – It is like you are plugged directly into your home network

As advertised – Works like a charm, playing my home iTunes Library at work as I type this. Thanks again, Dan, you just cut my productivy down by a third! ;) (least for today, till the novelty wears off)

best thing is, this works on linux as well .

It is currently on Linux, Windows and Mac….
Biggest reason I dig it is the ease. I enjoy tweaking a network so it functions securely, but when I sit down in front of the TV, I don’t want it to be rocket science just to get it to work. That makes this for me worth it. I share my files basically anywhere I want, and with little effort. :)

Here’s the support for the Mac in this product? Just went to the developers webstie and they have seemed to have dropped all Mac development.
