Who knew the Sidekick 3 was so customizable? You can edit everything from the background of your favorite application to the sounds that the device makes when you open and close the screen.
Below is a simple step by step guide, click “Read More” too see all the variables you can edit.
- Start off by downloading this .zip. The contents will make this process much easier.
- Once file has downloaded extract its contents, to your desktop
- Once the folder (themes) is extracted to the desktop plug in your USB cord to your PC and connect it to your Sidekick3. Drag the “themes” folder into the root directory of your Sidekick3 MiniSD card drive.
- Open your folder labled “themes” it should have a folder called ‘MyCustomTheme’. Open that and it should contain 2 image files.
Image 1: ring-background = This image is used as the Background picture.
Image 2: ring-folder-background = This image is a sub-background picture, meaning when a app is choosen this image will appear.
- You can edit those pictures in Photoshop. Make sure when you resave them, they are 240 x 138 PNG images.
- Ok so now we’re almost done! next what you’re going to want to do is edit the .txt file ( theme.txt ). So you’ll notice this inside the file:
- You’re going to want to change the # MyCustomTheme # to whatever you want the theme to be named: for example # MY NEW THEME # whatever you change the name to you have to change the name on the next line which is string Name(en_US) MyCustomTheme so that line will say string Name(en_US) MY NEW THEME
- Now we’re are done! just unplug your USB cord from your Sidekick3 and go to backgrounds
# MyCustomTheme #
string Name(en_US) MyCustomTheme
