Mmmmmmmmm, make your own Gatorade for 18 cents

Those of you out there who are sports drinks addicts know only too well how fast that bill can add up, so you may have asked yourself at one point or another: Why don’t I try to make some myself from scratch?

It’s easy! All you need is:

  • 1/2 cup orange juice â€â€? $0.15
  • 9 tbs. Sugar â€â€? $0.03
  • 3/8 tsp Salt – negligible
  • 2 liters (approx) water – negligible

Using boiling or hot water can make things go faster, but you’ll need to chill it down somehow before fridging it. So just mix everything together and see if it tastes like Gatorade. The tipster points out that the above recipe is not exactly the most tasty, and they added a little orange juice for flavor. [via]

We never said it tasted good – If you read down a bit the OJ made it much better. I have to admit I tried it, although it was not the best tasting, it was not as bad as described.

A teaspoon is a meaure of volume.
Typically a teaspoon (tsp) is taken to be 5 ml. (4.929 mL)
A tablespoon (tbs) is 3 times that and is 1/2 of a U.S. ounce (by volume) or about 15 ml. (14.787 mL)
    14.787 mL
