Learning time – The origin of the internet

I don’t think too many internet users ever actually sit down and wonder, how did the internet materialize? How did the giant network connecting computers users from around the world come to be? The BBC has a thorough – not to mention easy read – concerning the origins of the internet. From Tim Berner-Lee to what we now know today as a web browser.

Brush up on your internet history. I did my own research a few years back for a “book report”. Very much interesting stuff – the background and development of a technology that exists as the backbone of our everyday lives.

Did you learn about Tim Berner-Lee during grade / middle school? My memory is a little hazy when I try and think beyond last week.

I still refer to it as the “Darpa Net” from time to time just for shits and giggles.
