Just say no to suicide bombings

After having seen the making of this commercial in California, I was looking forward to the finished result. A strong message portrayed using the same stop photo technology used in the Matrix. The Digital SLR camera setup for this commercial was amazing.

Oh yes, when the guns doesnt work, make a commercial of it.

The movies has already shown terrorists as bad guys around the world, one commercial doesnt achieve anything.

But if you want us to say “cool looking explosion with nice camera effect”, that just ruins the message, doesnt it?

  • JJ

Oh, and I forgot… Just to bring some perspective.

Sweet Jesus! What the hell is wrong with you???
What in the hell was that? And what does it say at the end?
And ‘JJ’, you incoherent bastard, where in the world are you writing from? The incendiary depths of hell?
    You moron.

this happen when hollywood reach the middle-east..
the usa army killed more innocent people than any terrorist attacks together so far..
    just better know.. ;)

  • JJ

Steve, I am writing from the same world you are living in. But not from the same kind of world where you want us to live in.

  • Steve J.

JJ, you are a maudlin moron.

maybe we should lock this one up before it gets out of hand

The clip was not funded by Hollywood. Funded came by way of private groups in the middle-east with the main intent to dissuade individuals from continual suicide bombings. The only reason the commercial was created stateside is because Hollywood had the technology.

I think I get what JJ is trying to say.
Not that I agree, but I understand.
I think the only form of media that will have a major impact on terrorism is if someone makes the equivalent of Band of Brothers for terrorism. BoB was a really moving movie that allowed people to better understand the reality of the war, in al its details. I think if we apply the same idea to terrorism, it would “move” a lot of people and hopefully reduce terrorism. Just my 2 cents! :)

    @dov
What are your sources? I would love to see where you get you information from.

I do not understand why anyone would believe a commercial can talk one out of being a suicide bomber/martyr.

yeah, I dont’ get the point of the commercial. I agree with JJ… I think. I think that the message DOES get lost in the whole, “look at the cool camera effects” If they want to really make an impact on people, do a real documentary of a family that’s lost family members to car bombings/suicide bombings etc. What people need to do is educate the majority of American’s who only see the whole mid-eastern population as “terrorists and rag-heads” (ugh… I can’t believe I”m using that word) I honestly know people that have seriously suggested we, “Just nuke the whole god-damned contry” Of course, these are the racist conservative ignorant pigs that will probably never change, but I think at least a few might open their eyes.
And yeah, the numbers of innocent iraqi civilians that have died as a result of Military intervention, NOT the terrorists, is between 40 and 45 THOUSAND (source: http://www.iraqbodycount.org/database/) Ultimately we are doing more harm than good, creating more terrorists then we are stopping.

    very interesting
“the usa army killed more innocent people than any terrorist attacks together so far..
    just better know.. ;)”
are we talking about in the history of the world? Remember, one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. Some people even consider the boston tea party a terrorist attack (disrupting the way of life, etc…)

Emory: http://www.iraqbodycount.org/database/ is indeed a valid site with alot of useful information. However, I thought the original argument was that the united states army has killed more innocent people than any terrorist attacks ever. This only shows one war and just recent terrorist attacks. Again, this is just how I interpreted the data and writings. I could very well be incorrect.

  • JJ

I’d be more interested for which “side” is first to stop killings, rather thank who kills the most.

  • JJ

    than, not thank… :)

  • andy

there are so many “sides” that its not a cut and dry situation at all, but then again, no matter what issue there are no real cut and dry sides.

I would love to see this being researched and analyzed in the future and I know it will.
Much like the Vietnam War was in the 60′s/70′s, this and recent issues will change the face and idealism of the united states, especially among young people.

Another thing I would love to see would be top advisors go back and re-count the war and other situations, much like McNamara did with Fog of War. If you haven’t seen the documentary, I suggest you give it a look. It’s pretty much him telling his whole story from the beginning, giving some “rules” for future leaders to follow. It’s usually on the History Channel but there is a dvd availible for it as well.
