Burger King charges hurt kid for ice

John Michael Jasset staggered into the restaurant about 5 p.m. last Thursday after being hit by a car. He was thrown from his bike and also scraped his knee, arms and hands, his mother, Cheryl Jasset, said. But when he asked for some ice to put on his ankle, he was told he had to pay for it.

The charge: 99 cents, plus 5 cents for tax. That’s the price of a small soda.

This is why I hate the corporate mentality. If something is not programmed into workers brains, or something is not on the script these corporate drones have no clue how to react.

“Cheryl Jasset said a language barrier was evident at Burger King on the night of the incident, and has been in the days since. ”

    I guess Apu didn’t understand blood……

This just in, Newton is the most boring town, ever. It sucks the kid was charged for Ice, but a newspaper story about it? Its not like it was even the example for a large corporate feature or anything. Where is Newton anyway?

charge for ice in this scenario (I doubt they even have a policy about those things). This is mainly a story about the insensitivity and lack of common sense one person’s part, not Burger King at large. If Burger King is to be blamed for anything it is for not having some sensitivity training and for not instructing lowt level employees to use common sense. The same thing could have happened at a Wendy’s or McDonald’s so I don’t see how Burger King deserves all these calls for boycotts…

Disclosure: I have never eaten at a Burger King nor do I own any stock in the company/parent company.

Mans got a point, its not like they have a section in their hand book about “bleeding patrons”…. however it scares me to think that someone would put their job before helping someone injured…. thats like if I saw the kid get hit while I was on my way to work but didn’t stop out of fear of being late… pretty cut throat tactics… I must admit though… whoever the employee was, they have already proven themselves worthy of a middle management position ;)
